Sanasto is a Finnish copyright society that manages the rights of literary copyright holders. The purpose of Sanasto is to promote, supervise and manage the rights of literary copyright holders based on the Finnish Copyright Act, in Finland and internationally.
Sanasto’s member organisations are the Union of Finnish Writers, the Finnish Association of Non-fiction Writers, the Society of Swedish Authors in Finland and the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters. Even a writer or translator who is not a member of the above-mentioned organisations may become Sanasto’s client, if he or she has published at least one written or translated work. Several literary copyright holders have signed the Sanasto Contract. In addition, Sanasto manages the rights of about 3 700 copyright holders through its member organisations. Sanasto looks after the interests of literary copyright holders.
We also offer our clients legal counselling in matters pertaining to copyright and, together with our member organisations, assist copyright holders when their copyright has been violated and in matters related to the secondary use of works. Sanasto is a literary copyright society, which aims at influencing the public debate on copyright as well as related legislation in a manner that is advantageous to copyright holders.
